Even the reading material is antique! Fascinating stuff. Really.
We spent some time considering options for our late arrival in Oxford. We could get a bus to London and get a train from there, we could stay with Alex’s friend or we could book into a hostel or hotel. Another option was to get the bus to and from London (a night rider) and use it as a hotel.
We’re pretty tired and we decided to go for the most restful option and we are now safely in a hotel.
We’ll be back in Cambridge tomorrow. Around lunchtime.
Goodnight.
16 hours later we throw our bikes at the foot of Carfax.
Thank you.
We’re now around 7 miles away from Oxford. We’re both exhausted so are taking a break in a restaurant / pub where we’re getting some food with which we’ll complete our journey.
This is the first time since 6 am that we’re taking more than half an hour off. That should tell you one thing: we’re awfully slow at cycling.
We’ll probably move on from here at half 8 or 9. Arriving in Oxford sometime after 10.
Standby for confirmation around then.
It is incredibly hilly everywhere on this route it would seem. We’re struggling with the hills I must say. I certainly am.
Last bus tonight is at 7.30, so we’ll be staying in Oxford tonight I think.
Expecting a very tired 9 pm.
